Description: Trone, Inc. is looking for a Media Planner/Buyer who will be responsible for the buying of media for all clients as needed with strong spot broadcast buying skills. Responsibilities will include researching and developing media buys across all mediums, gathering, organizing and presenting research and spending data, working closely with media representatives negotiating lower rates, special time parameters, value-added sponsorships and promotions, tracking and approving make goods, and post-buy analysis, including reconciling invoices and buy details, documentation and client follow-up. Triangle Business Journal is seeking a designer with an impressive portfolio to join our team.

The ideal candidate will be equally adept at creative skill and time management prowess. He or she must be fluent in all design proficiencies (as outlined below), able to handle multiple projects at once and systematically organized to keep up with all deadlines.

 

This position would be a great fit for an innovative individual looking to unleash their creative spirit and further lift Triangle Business Journal’s brand.

 

Duties: The duties of the role are detailed below

 

1.     Marketing/Advertising Design. Responsible for creating a campaign for each event including designing logos and collateral (ads in the paper, direct mail, website and email); and responsible for assisting the Production Director in building ads for clients. Coordination with corporate staff remotely on certain projects is essential.

2.     Digital product creation. Responsible for building microsites for events using TBJ’s Krang CMS and for creating web ads with coding for clients and in-house promotion. On occasion, the role will also design custom products for the web based on a client’s needs.

3.     Email Marketing and Design.  Responsible for designing and sending TBJ’s marketing emails for events, promotions and communications using ExactTarget software.

4.     Schedule Management. Responsible for developing a work flow with assistance from the Director of Marketing/Circulation that manages the priorities of several projects with varying timelines.

5.     A/V Services. Occasionally the role may be required to handle video/sound for award winner interviews, run A/V services at our events.

6.     Professional Development. The Multimedia Designer is expected to participate in all training offered by ACBJ and his or her business unit. In addition, the Multimedia Designer should participate in at least one other training opportunity each year, as agreed upon with the Business Unit Operating Head.

7.     Community. Like all staff members, the Multimedia Designer is encouraged to attend all events promoting his or her business unit.

8.    Other. The Multimedia Designer should be prepared to take on any other assignments as requested by the Publisher or Business Unit Operating Head.

I have worked with Chambers of Commerce, Homebuilders Associations, planned unit developments, and other non-profit organizations.  Projects have entailed producing and promoting events such as the Parade of Homes, launching the premier issue of the Lake Gaston Tour Guide and Map, and leading marketing and fund-raising efforts for the Hocutt-Ellington Library Annex building project. 

 

I hold a BS in Business Administration with a Finance minor from East Carolina University and am currently working towards a Master’s in Integrated Marketing Communications from West Virginia University’s online program. 







CAREER HIGHLIGHTS HAVE INCLUDED:

 

Launching a new brand concept and marketing campaign for the Tri-County Parade of Homes and Lake Gaston Living Tour Guide & Map publications encompassing: a new product/event name; new logo; new signage; updated advertising campaign; expanded advertising mediums; expanded promotional events; introduced a media kit; and further support collateral.

 

Increasing the advertising base and insertion rate pricing for the Tri-County Parade of Homes in the first year from 46 advertisers to 65 advertisers, a 43.3% increase. Increasing the quantity of builder parade entries and builder entry fees from 53 to 54 and $800 to $975, respectively. Gross revenues yielded a 16.4% profit margin on total sales volume of $125,625.

 

Increasing the 2006-2007 Lake Gaston Chamber of Commerce Map and Tour Guide profit from a break-even project to a earning a profit of $7,550, plus map sale revenues on a circulation base of 20,000 maps at a cost of $2 per map, for a total profit of $47,550. Combined advertising and map sale revenues totaled $100,550, yielding a 47% profit margin over a three year period.

 

Planning and organizing a 250 person Parade of Homes awards banquet for four consecutive years. Event management included: securing venue(s); securing caterer and bartenders; menu and dinnerware selection; logistics coordination; venue up-fit and decoration; securing the MC, keynote speaker and acoustical entertainment; audio visual setup; event scripting and programming; designing and printing the event program; managing and troubleshooting the event; and event break-down/cleanup. Other events included weddings, client appreciation socials, and grand openings.

 

Spearheaded the initiative to develop a new packaging solution and consistent image for Eaton’s Global curriculum kit components. Components included: CDs, service manuals, and corrugated packaging. The corrugated packaging solution provided an improved customer experience and supported corporate branding initiatives through a box label including the Eaton logo and course name.

 

Performing print house annual budgeting and service reviews. Solicited RFQs from print houses. Initiated communications with candidates; wrote and conveying job specifications, needs, and expectations; and managed the due diligence process through a spreadsheet evaluation grid and off-site visits. Presented each candidate’s value-add and cost structure to management and awarded print contract(s).

 

Eaton’s Resident Photographer for the United Way 2008 Harvest Festival, Raleigh, NC. Developed a photo journal communicating Eaton’s commitment to the Raleigh community: photographs published in the national Eaton Corporate 2009 United Way Campaign.

 

Designing and developing marketing collateral for a broad range of industries including: hospitality; financial services/banking; food services; automotive; forestry; and commercial/residential development and construction. Hands-on experience designing and overseeing the design of: logos; sales sheets; newsletters; billboards; pocket folders; calendars; magazines; maps, print advertising; html email ads; postcards; newspaper ads; and websites.
