Meeting info:Bring your highball glasses and your Lucky Strikes as we uncover the truth in the 1960's world of advertising.
Spend an evening at Duke University's Hartman Center for Sales, Advertising & Marketing History with three original "Mad Men" (and women). Charlotte Beers, Wally O'Brien and Doug Alligood all started their careers in advertising in the early 1960s. These three panelists will discuss their experiences on Madison Avenue in comparison to agency life as depicted on the hit show Mad Men on AMC. The Hartman Center has also put together a small exhibit entitled "Not Just Mad Men: Real Advertising Careers of the 1960s" that is on view in Perkins Library until the beginning of January. The careers and papers of several real ad men and women are highlighted in the exhibit.
Meet Charlotte Beers, former CEO of Ogilvy & Mather (among other positions), Wally O'Brien, former President and COO of J. Walter Thompson Company and Doug Alligood, Senior VP, BBDO!
